Lesley Gore: They Don't Own Her

IN 1964, A seventeen-year-old freshman named Lesley Gore put out her first record, 'It's My Party (And I'll Cry If I Want To)'. It was a typical fantasy about a broken-hearted birthday. It made No. 1. The follow-up, in which Lesley won her Johnny back, was called 'Judy's Turn To Cry', and it, too, made the Top Ten.
