Lisa Stansfield: Northern Soul
Mat Snow, Q, December 1991
WHEN THERES promotion to be done, it's all go chez Lisa Stansfield. At 11 in the morning, the house is full of people. BBC2's Rapido team bustles about in that purposeful way that TV people do. In the kitchen, there's the head of marketing at Lisa's record company, and his cordless telephone is glowing red-hot with executive decisions. Then there's Lisa's PR girl, priming the Q duo for the moment when her charge will be ready to receive us, after her hairdresser and make-up artist have concluded their ministrations. As other underlings drink tea, Lisa's personal assistant is making hotel reservations for next week's trip down to London.
