Lou Reed: Rock N Roll Animal
Bud Scoppa, Phonograph Record, April 1974
LOU REED'S LAST album, Berlin, vividly demonstrated how his talent can be misrepresented and abused. Berlin failed not because of its theme or its viewpoint, both of which are consistent with his earlier work, but because Bob Ezrin's production job took Reed away from the simple elements with which he works and smothered him in exotic excesses.
