Mercury Rev: Deserter's Songs

NAMED AFTER Greil Marcus's evocative description of The Band's early albums, this latest offering from Mercury Rev is, by some distance, the best pop record I've heard all year, a breathtakingly poised piece of work which deserves to catapult them to star status.
