CHICAGO IN THE FIRST DECADE after World War II spawned record labels like a salmon on fertility drugs. Many of them dealt with blues, some were devoted to it, but unless you’re down with the collecting scrum, their names today will mean little. Just one resonates – at a frequency that can wobble newcomers as easily as ‘60s sentimentalists.
