Nile Rodgers: Adventures In The Land Of The Good Groove

Mitchell Cohen, Creem, July 1983

SINCE NILE RODGERS (A) is democratic enough to include Wall Street within the borders of good-groove land (see the map on the album cover), and (B) builds some of his songs on a metrically insistent call-and-response motif that makes him sound like a hip drill instructor, it's easy to imagine (C) a platoon of securities-analysts, caning boom-boxes and briefcases, striding to their office buildings to the cadences of this LP's title song: "I wanna go to!," calls out Rodgers ("Wanna go to!," responds the brigade) "The land of!" ("The land of!") "The good groove!" ("The good groove!!")
