Nils Lofgren, Johnny Winter: University of Texas, Dallas

THE UNIVERSITY of Texas auditorium was packed and standing with 3,300 big people. Some were seven foot tall, wearing Stetson hats, cowboy boots and chewing quietly on toothpicks, looking mean and nasty. Sometimes they told each other Jewish jokes. I hate to think what was going through their heads the rest of the time.
