Oasis: live at Earls Court, London (27th September 1997)
Will Self, Independent on Sunday, October 1997
IT WAS an emotional night for me – as it was for so many others. The minute that Liam Gallagher reached the centre of the enormous, cod-Surrealist set at Earl's Court, I knew that we were in a situation of life meld. He was dressed entirely in white, stretchy clothing, which made him appear as he if were wearing a colossal Baby-Gro. Then he took up his posture at the microphone: arms clenched behind the small of his back, legs akimbo, and began to push, and push, and pu-ush! Wrenchingly giving birth to the words: "All my people right here right now – d'jewknowhatImean.... "
