Ocean Colour Scene: Marchin' Already

Phil Sutcliffe, MOJO, October 1997

OCEAN COLOUR SCENE stir mighty passions in the breasts of some — Paul Weller and Noel Gallagher being the conspicuous celeb celebrants — and leave many with the feeling that they really ought to like these earnest lads with their wholehearted devotion to the '60s greats. Marchin' Already would seem likely to preserve the headcount were it not for a suspicion that it could spin off a Spice Girlish sequence of hits. 'Better Day', 'Travellers Tune', 'Debris Road' and 'Foxy Folk Faced' all have an authoritative tone — alluring choruses and enough surprising little variations to generate radio interest.
