Orbital: Brixton Academy, London
Ben Thompson, MOJO, December 1994
THE WAY THAT ORBITAL wanted to make music, one of the Hartnoll brothers said last year in a rare theoretical moment, was like an idealised tribal lifestyle: "Youd have a fisherman, a carpenter and a drummer they wouldnt be raised on a pedestal." The pedestal Orbital didnt want to be raised on was, it turns out, purely metaphorical: here they are, in the middle of an enterprisingly rearranged Brixton Academy, right on top of a real one.
