THE WAY THAT ORBITAL wanted to make music, one of the Hartnoll brothers said last year in a rare theoretical moment, was like an idealised tribal lifestyle: "You’d have a fisherman, a carpenter and a drummer – they wouldn’t be raised on a pedestal." The pedestal Orbital didn’t want to be raised on was, it turns out, purely metaphorical: here they are, in the middle of an enterprisingly rearranged Brixton Academy, right on top of a real one.
