Pat Benatar: True Love
Tom Graves, Rock and Roll Disc, August 1991
SOME PEOPLE are labouring under the mistaken notion that Pat Benatar is a rock vocalist. What she really is is a music video actress - a few years ago she played a World War II fighter pilot in one of the goofiest videos of the MTV era, then moved on to a dance hall girl in another video. This week she wants to play at being a blues chanteuse. But now that those 15-year-old hormone-fueled boys she pandered to have grown up, she's going to find claptrap like True Love a much tougher sell.
