Paul Siebel: Woodsmoke and Oranges/Jackknife Gypsy
Ellen Sander, Saturday Review, 30 January 1971
PAUL SIEBEL albums, I have found, are a good prescription for tired ears, sort of country Geritol boosting the funk and grit in the bloodstream of tired pop arteries. He makes music much as a rural craftsman makes functional art: with an eye to beauty that will last, without any unnecessary frill, and with an earful of sounds, organically produced, that leaves no part of the air he fills unmoving.
