Pavement Goes Overground
Barney Hoskyns, MOJO, June 1999
NOBODY COULD accuse Pavement of being rock archetypes. Take the groups frontman Stephen Malkmus, who spends much of his spare time flyfishing virgin rivers and scaling 18,000-foot mountains in Americas Pacific northwest. Or guitarist Scott "Spiral Stairs" Kannberg, who, when he isnt tending his meticulously manicured garden in Berkeley, California, is usually to be found on one of the Bay Areas many golf courses.
