Pete Atkin: Reissues
Jim Irvin, Rob Chapman, MOJO, April 1998
IF YOU spent the early '70s worshipping false idols with feet of clay when you could have been listening to these finely crafted records then shame on you. There was Kenny Everett, with tastebuds as immaculate as John Peel's, tossing Atkin/James compositions like the rumbustious 'Master Of The Revels' and the beguiling 'Girl On A Train', into his mainstream Saturday morning fare, and still all but a few of you ignored them. But, as James says in his affectionate liner notes, "Those marvellous people who bought them hung on to them, and now here they are again."
