PRIDE OF PLACE on my office wall belongs to a photograph by Jill Furmanovsky. It's an image that takes me back almost 30 years to a sublime night at London's Hammersmith Odeon: to a concert by Chic, the only really credible group in the history of disco, and a performance that was as much about choreography as about rhythmic syncopation.
