Pink: I’m Not Dead
Dan Gennoe, Q, Spring 2006
AFTER INSTIGATING the '80s rock revival currently sweeping the hit factories of US pop, it's only fair that Pink should now get to be its elder stateswoman. Yet be warned, wisdom, soul-searching and politics, especially the mid-tempo kind, often lead to earnest power chords and clenched fists when coupled with poodle rock, and I'm Not Dead has plenty of both. Teenage girls with issues will take solace, and revel in 'Dear Mr President''s rage; everyone else will be glad when "bitchy Pink" rears her trashy sneer for punk kiss-off 'U+Ur Hand', and the gloriously caustic celebration of airhead celebrities, 'Stupid Girls'.
