Pop and its Past
Steve Redhead, Rock's Backpages, September 2011
POP HISTORY seemed, for some commentators at least, to have stopped sometime in the late 1980s. This was the 'postmodern' moment for many critics and fans, although it would be better to label it a pivotal point in the development of contemporary 'accelerated culture' if it is really true that 'we have never been postmodern' (Redhead, 2004, 2011).
