Queen Ida: Zydeco Is Her Realm
Don Snowden, Los Angeles Times, 1980
IN THE LAST 18 months, zydeco musician Queen Ida Guillory has spent more than 250 days on the road. Contributed some background music to Francis Coppola's forthcoming film Rumblefish and won this year's ethnic/folk Grammy for her On Tour LP. Not too bad for a 55-year-old ex-clerk who fell into a musical career 10 years ago after finding a new way to while away her idle hours.
