QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE occasionally get called a metal band. This is rather like calling Picasso a house painter. The veteran Californian band may rock with a belligerence to satisfy the most primitive head-banger, but at heart they are art-rockers, sublimating metal's power and intensity into a brilliantly monstrous psychedelic stew.
