Randy Newman: Guilty: 30 Years of Randy Newman
Chris Ingham, MOJO, March 1999
NEWMAN FANS have been baying for this kind of set for a while, especially as the songwriter's back catalogue has been unavailable on CD for some time. Newman recently signed with DreamWorks, and so Reprise are bidding him a proud farewell with this comely collection 115 tracks (including 25 previously unreleased demos) stuffed onto four CDs, with an 80-page booklet featuring contributions from producers Lenny Waronker and Russ Titelman, an expanded Rolling Stone article by Timothy White and comments on the songs by Newman himself.
