Rick James: Glow (Motown)
Simon Witter, NME, 1 June 1985
POOR RICK has never been taken very seriously - a self-obsessed prima-donna of sophistifunk, as lascivious as Richard Pryors ear-screwing monkey. But the slick Dick has produced some irresistibly enjoyable music and in an age of indistinguishable soul sounds - where Jam/Lewis can make five different bands sound the same - his music sounds unique.
