Rickie Lee Jones: Flying Cowgirl
Mark Dery, Elle, September 1989
RICKIE LEE Jones's first album in five years, Flying Cowboys, offers a ride on one of those coin-operated broncos most of us rode when we were little and would still ride if no one were watching. The music canters along, percussion clopping like hooves, and synthesizers tinkling like silver traces. "I'll pick you up darlin' if ya fall," Jones croons, in 'The Horses', "Don't you worry 'bout a thing little girl/Because I was young myself not so long ago."
