Robert Hunter

Bruce Pollock, 'In Their Own Words' (Collier Books), 1975

ROBERT HUNTER is the resident lyricist for the Grateful Dead, rock eminences of the San Francisco scene. An underground poet with a solo album, Tales of the Great Rum-runners, Hunter has toiled largely in the shadows of the subculture, charting its frantic course with his lyrics. Lyrics which, by and large, have escaped the approval of the Top Ten chart.
