BY THE time you read this, Robert Pollard will have pulled the plug on Guided By Voices: The band's final concert occurred on New Year's Eve at Chicago's Metro Theater. Tickets for the gig – priced at $75 each – sold out months in advance, while Mayor Richard Daley, following in the footsteps of the municipal leaders of Los Angeles, Cleveland, Dallas, Bloomington, Ind. and tiny Newport, Ky., decreed an official Guided By Voices Day to celebrate the occasion.
