Robin Trower: Kiel Center, St Louis
Paul Yamada, Concert News, July 1984
ROBIN TROWER is one of several guitarists who survived the experimentalism of the middle to late 60's; providing the non-rhythmic thrust to Procul Harum, he fell upon a style that could both clash and blend with classically textured keyboards. Though no direct jazz influence was obvious, he obeyed one ancient maxim: always play as little as possible, use your imagination to set up an expectation in the mind of the listener, and then, don't play those expected bars.
