Savage Rose: An Interview
Archie Patterson, Eurock, 2002
ONE OF MY EARLIEST Euro-rock discoveries was the Danish band Savage Rose. Their first album to be released in the USA was In The Plain, in 1970 (which was actually their second album proper, as they had an earlier Danish release simply entitled Savage Rose). In The Plain was stunning, with compositions and dual keyboards provided by the brothers Koppel that created an adventurous musical mix of idioms – pop, classical, jazz and blues. The group also possessed one of the most exotic and enchanting female vocal presences Ive ever heard – Annisette.
