Sever Little Children: Morrissey And Marr: The Severed Alliance by Johnny Rogan (Omnibus Press)

Stuart Maconie, New Musical Express, 16 May 1992

A FANATIC, they say, is someone who redoubles his effort when he has forgotten his aim. The Smiths spawned many fans — I know, I was one. But, sadly, they also created a huge number of fanatics; people who never got things in perspective, continue to send death threats to anyone who gives Morrissey a bad review and who have actually convinced themselves that 'Interesting Drug' is as good as 'This Charming Man'. Their loyalty is touching but also faintly distressing.
