AFTER A WEEK of cloud-sealed gloom the sun shone down on London on Friday pushing the lunchtime temperature to 63 degrees. The vibes seemed auspicious for the opening of what was hyped as London's first 24-hour punk venue, The Vortex record shop and coffee bar in a former Spanish restaurant in Hanway Street.
