Shep & The Limelites
Pete Grendysa, Collectables, 1999
ON A COLD JANUARY NIGHT in 1970, a journey of thousands of miles finally came to an end. It was just another crime statistic in New York City, but it was an event of catastrophic importance to the popular music world. James "Shep" Sheppard, singer and songwriter, had car trouble on the Long Island Expressway. While stopped there, he was robbed and beaten to death – a tragic ending to a short career and a sad life.
