Smokey Robinson: Hammersmith Odeon, London
Cliff White, NME, 12 November 1977
BILL-TOPPERS usually command a bigger stage area and more musicians than opening acts, but on this occasion the position was reversed for Viola Wills with her 10-piece band and family of singers. Although the quantity involved in her performance was no match for the quality of Smokey Robinson, her set was far more entertaining than on the previous times I've seen her and may possibly signify a belated breakthrough for this talented lady.
