Sun Ra: Space Is The Place

Last week the legendary SUN RA, who claims to come from the planet Saturn, beamed down to earth to play two sell-out concerts at London's Venue. Now in his 70s, the cosmic big band leader has had a colourful and extraordinary career: he formed his own independent label in the mid-'50s, at the same time championed black pride and interplanetary thangs, and has recorded over 200 LPs.
