LOS ANGELES, Tuesday: The Band, rapidly reaching the pinnacle of respect enjoyed by only a handful of groups in America, performed two sold-out concerts in the Los Angeles area. Refusing to play the enormous rock halls usually booked by groups such as the Stones, Jefferson Airplane and Jethro Tull, The Band chose instead intimate halls where rock concerts are rarely produced.
