The Band’s All-Star Farewell Banquet

Richard Cromelin, Waxpaper, 1978

"FOR THE FILM, first of all, you have to do a thing which is called pre-dubbing, which is where you take your 24 tracks and you transfer it to mag film, and you boil it down to 12 tracks or whatever you can. Then you predub your dialogue tracks and then your effects tracks down onto this thing, and this is before you even start to mix. Then when we mix this we have to mix stereo optical Dolby, stereo mag and mono. It has to be mixed three times, and that’s just for the film. The record is something else entirely."
