The Byrds: The Golden Bear, Huntington Beach CA

Bill Wasserzieher, Long Beach Press-Telegram, 20 November 1967

TWO YEARS ago the Byrds had Top 40 hits unlike any other pop songs coming out in America. A year ago, despite the defection of lead singer Gene Clark, the band still ranked high enough to co-headline the Hollywood Bowl with the Lovin' Spoonful and the Sun Rays. Last weekend and reduced to a trio, they played the cramped Golden Bear Club in Huntington Beach to a half-capacity crowd. They were no longer flying high.
