The Del Vikings
Pete Grendysa, Goldmine, 21 February 1992
THE GOLDEN DREAM of rock 'n' roll goes like this: a few guys or girls get together, work out some songs, are discovered and recorded, and their first record is a big hit. This dream really did come true numerous times in the mid-1950's, although few such grassroots artists had the staying power to become more than one-hit wonders. The chance was always there, however, and thousands of bands, vocal groups, and solo singers grabbed for the gold record in those simpler times.
