The Deviants: The Deviants (Transatlantic)

Miles, International Times, 10 October 1969

FIRST CAME PTOOFF!: an album of outrageous London Underground freakery, soggy nostalgia and general-purpose nastiness – as English as potting sheds and The Goon Show – an album rapidly maturing with age. Come DISPOSABLE and the Deviants were finding their feet: tentatively at first with some fine examples of the 'Covent Garden Sound' ('Let's Loot the Supermarket' is a great track) which were original but mostly an album of spaced-out meaningless weirdness and speedcrazed gabbling. Now we have their third album which in many ways is their first!
