The B-52s are a "clever" jokey dance combo. Before they achieved their current commercial success, they were a gang of pals hanging around in Athens, Georgia, a sleepy student town. The gang decided to form a band — Fred, Keith, Ricky, Cindy and Kate. They rehearsed for a years worth of parties in the back room of the Eldorado vegetarian restaurant, where Fred (the politico of the group) was a waiter. The Eldorado used to be a funeral parlour; the band rehearsed in the old blood-letting room, complete with blood sloughing troughs and cockroaches. These were the days...
