The High Dials: War of the Wakening Phantoms
Jason Gross, Harp, December 2005
IN THE quirky, removed Northern climes of late-'70s Montreal, Trevor Anderson grew up on a diet of folk and country music. More than a dozen years later, a bolt of musical lightning suddenly hit when friends supplied him with a trove of early-'90s Britpop (Ride, Stone Roses). "That led me to picking up a guitar," he recalls. "Those songs are really easy - it's like punk music." His first serious stab at a band was the Datsons (established circa 1997), as he indulged in the mod lifestyle.
