The Jam: In The City
Chas de Whalley, Sounds, 14 May 1977
I HEARD the Jam's single 'In The City' on the radio the other day. The bass came roaring up from the mix and through the tiny speaker like an express train, out of control. It dragged everything else along behind it by the scruff of the neck and then the drums, guitar and voices came in to give my head a real hard shake. So impressed was I that I got straight out of the bath, picked up my guitar and started trying to play along.
