The Jesus & Mary Chain: The Living Room, London

David Quantick, New Musical Express, 8 September 1984

ATTIRED IN the standard tatty black outfits and tatty black haircuts of today's young folk, The Jesus And Mary Chain play their tatty white music and do their viable thing. Years of Siouxsie/Cocteau/Sex Gang/Sisters Of Mercy/Doors cloning by the young folk has meant a dry desert of black clad pop, tunes gasping for a chorus, guitar lines drying in the sun like the barest bones of 'She's Lost Control', lyrics mocking the sub-human poetry of the Wooden-Tongued Underground.
