MENTION THE NAME of the Jook a decade or so ago, and chances are, you'd be met with a blank gaze from anybody outside of a clutch of hardcore power-pop fans, and they only recognized it because it turned up on The Birth Of Power-Pop, a rather wonderful CD anthology that scurried far and wide around the genre's annals, in search of the best of (and the rest of) the wide-eyed, bright guitar hordes who set the stage for the early 80s New Wave.
