WHO REMEMBERS the La’s when they first popped out of the Liverpool woodwork? A cherubic quartet of scallies, they were pure cutesy retro, ’60s revisitors with frayed guitars and amps, and no great Merseyside threat to the E’d-up prole art threat of late ’80s Madchester.
