The Last of the Voodoos: A Rock & Roll Retrospective

Kandia Crazy Horse, Black Renaissance/Renaissance Noire, January 2002

This essay was originally published in NYU Africanist Manthia Diawara’s Black Renaissance/Renaissance Noire [Vol.3, No.2, Spring 2001]. Since the very weird period when I wrote the piece, I have not really changed my mind about the Rolling Stones nor have I done a rewrite to suit RBP's radically different audience (despite negative reactions I have garnered from some quarters). I still admire Brian Jones, Charlie Watts & Anita Pallenberg, as well as having a curious fondness for Keith Richards.

Total word count of piece: 5152
