The Libertines: England Expects
Keith Cameron, MOJO, March 2003
UNLESS YOU count the leaky ceiling, there is no running water in The Albion Rooms. A litre bottle of Evian has been decanted into the cistern, but still the toilet is out of bounds for anything other than a Jimmy Riddle, while the concept of washing up has been long since redundant. Nor has the stove seen much action of late. The gas was also cut off a little while ago. The only reason the electricity supply functions is because it runs from a meter. Meanwhile, Carl Barât and Pete Doherty, The Albion Rooms' two tenants, are sat in a grotty upstairs bedroom, discussing food options.
