The Mighty Diamonds: There's No Ganja In Nassau
Vivien Goldman, Sounds, 10 June 1978
DAWN FLUSHED the sky like tomato juice infiltrating a shot of vodka, as a precarious caravan of dreadlocks weaves between stately lines of towering palm trees. It's 5.00 a.m., and the Mighty Diamonds phut-phut past the azure sea on their rented mopeds, heading to their bougainvillea-swathed hotel chalet from a late-night recording session at Nassau's Compass Point Studios. Shadows shrink and enlarge as the sun rises, like duppies drunk on sea-breezes.
