TO ANYONE who never saw Tony Secunda's little scam-mongerers in their psychpop pomp, the clip of The Move that turned up on VH1's Beat Beat Beat recently would have been a revelation. Four great front-line vocalists giving it the Brum choirboy touch. Ace Kefford and Trevor Burton prowling the stage, never still. Roy Wood chopping out cello lines on his Rickenbacker. Carl Wayne menacing and moody, with no hint of the tendencies that would later have him forsaking the Top 10 for a life of cabaret. Bev Bevan unfussily laying down the perfect foundational beat. The Move, all low-end fuzz and rumble and top-end nasal chiming. A magnificent noise.
