The O'Jays, LeVert: Hammersmith Odeon, London

Chris Roberts, Melody Maker, 20 February 1988

TWO GENERATIONS of soul — neither of which, on this showing, could work on a building of love or tear your playhouse down, or any such emotional constructivism. Both senior and junior go through showtime motions with a sense of elevated communion akin to a shoe-sole dousing a cigarette. At least the old fellers have been at it long enough to do it "efficiently" — a dubious accolade.
