The Orb: O Is For Orb

Ian Gittins, Melody Maker, 25 March 1995

THE ORB, the first band since Pink Floyd to transfer ambient noodling and stunning visuals from clubs to stadia, return this week with a new album, Orbus Terrarum, which has already divided the critics. Is their latest opus another glorious proliferation of extra-terrestrial soundscapes or does it represent the aimless doodling of a band who've lost their way? IAN GITTINS pays a house call on Orbmeister DR ALEX PATERSON, who is now working without his longtime partner Thrash, for an alphabetical guide around the wonderful world of The Orb.
