ONE OF MY happiest nights in years was spent in a dark, sweltering and cramped club in Hamburg towards the end of 1975. It was when the Pasadenans were playing a season at Onkel Po's club, where the tables are crammed around the tiny stage, and local Hamburgers grab huge mugs of foaming beer, ferried overhead.
